If you are just starting crossfit you have to know you probably have awhile before you will be good enough to compete. However, a lot of guys who are top crossfit games competitors were only doing crossfit for a few months before they went to the games. CrossFit Regionals. CrossFit Regionals, this is the point where you have to of proven yourself to get here. After the open only 60 men and 60 women will compete at their regional competition. Here you battle it out in a very CrossFit Games like atmosphere and if you are the top 3 you will be going to the games.

If you are, then do it with no regrets. Be all in and enjoy the journey. Be prepared for failure, and if you fail, then pick yourself up. Look back at your improvement over the course of the year and be proud of your hard work. Never dwell on the negative. After all, it is just a game. Win or lose, competing in CrossFit does not define you as person.

If you’re serious about being a CrossFit competitive athlete the first thing you have to do is master all the key skills. It’s like with any sport really: You have to learn the basic skills before learning the more complex stuff. Kinda hard to play a game of hockey if you don’t know how to skate.

The CrossFit Open and the CrossFit Games use a relative scoring system. In the Open, athletes are ranked on the leaderboard based on their performance relative to other athletes in their division, and are assigned a point value based on their placing in each event (e.g. 1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points). At the end of the Open, the athlete with the least amount of points is the overall winner. The CrossFit Games use a scoring table, which can be found here.
